Ps. 19 December staan ze met een DJ-set samen met Tiga, BoysNoiz, Soulwax en natuurlijk 2ManyDJs op Soulwaxms in de Maassilo, Rotterdam. Kulk en ik gaan, kom je ook? Indien je nog twijfelt.

Way too cool to ignore, but published already everywhere I believe…

“Stress” leunt hevig op een sample uit “Night on Disco Mountain” van David Shire. Deze track komt uit de film Saturday Night Fever, om maar iets herkenbaars te noemen. Grappig om te weten is dat dit een klassiek nummer is wat in het disco genre valt, verwarrend.

In de break van “Stress” komt vrijwel ineens een sample uit “Jocko Homo” van de jaren 70 groep Devo tevoorschijn. In de clip van “Jocko Homo” (die de jaren 70 eer aan doet) zie je dat dit een nogal artistieke band is, maar hoor je ook direct aan het begin de onmiskenbare sample die Justice heeft gebruikt. Devo putte voor dit nummer inspiratie uit de film “Island of The Lost souls” een adoptatie van het verhaal “The Island of Doctor Moreau” van H.G. Wells. De mega onduidelijke trailer van “Islands of The Lost Souls” is hier te bekijken.

Maar voor nu, omdat het vrijdag is, het nummer “Stress” van het Franse Electro duo Justice (uit gekomen op het Engelse “Ed Banger Records” label met artiesten als SebastiAn, Mr. Oizo, Uffie etc). Genoeg gelezen en gezien, gaan met die banaan!

Maar goed, vandaag hebben we het over Mason, alweer een Hollander Persoonlijk blijf ik deze instrumentale versie stukken beter vinden dan de ingezongen versie van een jaar later.

Dit nummer verwar ik geregeld met de beat van Bodyrox – Yeah Yeah die ik dan weer verwar met Etienne de Crecy – Fast Track. Natuurlijk omdat de laatste track ook instrumentaal is begonnen om hierna een ingezongen remix te krijgen. Dit zie ik ook wel gebeuren met Eric Prydz – Pjanoo.
